Saturday Hockey
In due course boys and girls progress to the club’s adult teams that play on Saturdays and train during the week. Beeston runs 8 men’s league teams with the 1st XI playing in the National First Division (outdoor) and the National Premier League (indoor), 3 ladies league teams with the 1st XI playing in the Nottinghamshire Premier League and a boys’ badgers’ team playing occasional friendly matches. The club has a structured pathway to enable youngsters to progress to higher teams when they are ready and in fact has a national reputation for encouraging junior players in their adult teams. There is a membership fee once juniors progress to regular Saturday hockey.
Club training nights are Tuesdays 8.30-9.30pm for men and Thursdays 7-8pm for ladies.
Representational Hockey
We encourage the juniors to seek representational honours at borough, county, midland and national levels when ready. Currently Beeston have schoolboy internationals as well as several midland divisional players and too many county players to mention!
Coaching and Umpiring Opportunities
Older colts are encouraged to gain umpiring and coaching qualifications. They can become involved in the many junior events held at the club as timekeepers, umpires, announcers, stewards and assistant coaches. Several older colts help regularly at Sunday morning coaching sessions.
Other Opportunities
Juniors are offered other coaching sessions during the summer break including goalkeeping courses and stix skills sessions for 11-14 yr olds.
