15/10/05 Hockey Skills Elite Coaching Academy at  Beeston H C: This is a new venture for the club and aims to offer excellent coaching to a group of 20-30 juniors, both boys and girls, who have been selected because of their potential as hockey players. The academy aims to aid the progress of players and to bridge the gap between junior training sessions on Sunday and progress to the higher adult Beeston teams which play on Saturday. The first group of juniors have been selected and the Academy started on October 14th. Further blocks of coaching will be offered in the New Year.
The setting up of the coaching academy has been an ambition of the club for sometime. We now believe that we have the correct coaches to plan and lead the coaching sessions, they are:
Nick Clark --- Beeston Hockey Club Men’s 1st Team coach, Nick has a proven record as head coach at National League level, is a Level 3 coach and in the 1990’s was involved with coaching the England under 16s, 18s and 21s.
Steve Wood --- Beeston Men’s 1st Team Captain, is a level 2 coach who has undertaken assessments of players at International level.  These lead coaches will be assisted by 2-3 club coaches at each session who will be there to help and to improve their own coaching skills.  This is an exciting new development at the club that we believe will be of great benefit to both the juniors and Beeston HC.
